Principal's Message
Dear Harley Avenue Families,
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new principal of Harley Avenue Primary School! I am truly honored to join this wonderful school community, which has already welcomed me so warmly.
As a member of the Elwood School District for the past eight years—most recently as Assistant Principal of Elwood Middle School—I understand the unique, close-knit nature of our community and know what a special place Harley Avenue is. Since my appointment in May, I’ve had the opportunity to visit the school often and begin getting to know the students and staff. I’ve witnessed firsthand the care and dedication our team brings to nurturing your children, and I’m excited to help strengthen the important connection between home and school.
I have been an educator for over 20 years, serving in the Plainview-Old Bethpage, Lynbrook, and Elwood districts as a special education and reading teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels. Inspired by my own positive experiences in school and the amazing teachers who mentored me, I’ve always known that working with young children was my calling. Early childhood is such a pivotal time in a child’s development—when they’re not only growing academically, but also learning how to be kind friends, thoughtful classmates, and active community members. I believe in supporting students not only academically, but also socially and emotionally, so they are equipped with the skills to thrive in every aspect of life.
As a mother of four children, ages 6 to 14, I understand both the joys and challenges of parenting. I know how emotional it can be to send your little one off to school—especially if it’s your first. You want them to feel safe, loved, and supported, just as they are at home. Please know that this is my goal as well.
My top priority this year is building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. I look forward to spending time in classrooms and attending school events. I will work closely with our dedicated staff to provide your children with an engaging, high-quality education in a nurturing and joyful environment. My door is always open, and I welcome your ideas, input, and partnership.
